MIDDLE SCHOOL SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH MONROVIA

The Midde School Lady Devils hosted the Monrovia Lady Hawks in a double header, February 25.  A cool breezy evening saw the Lady Devils take the first game, 4 - 1.


The Lady Hawks regrouped and took the second game of the double header, 5 - 1.



The Lady Devils will be hosting the Clements Lady Colts, March 5 in their next game.  The Varsity team plays at 4:30 pm and the Middle School game will follow.

RED DEVILS TAKE A SATURDAY WIN

VARSITY:

Elkmont 7, West Morgan 6: Elkmont’s Michael Haney homered and doubled for the Red Devils (2-0). Jared Bailey doubled twice, singled and knocked in two runs, and Bryant Wells had a double, a single and two RBIs.
Rhett Bailey pitched 1 2/3 innings for the win.

West Morgan’s Trey Mathis doubled, singled and knocked in a run, while Blake New collected a double and an RBI, and Brad Wilson doubled.

Elkmont will be hosting Danville in the next round of the Athens Bible School Preseason Tournament, Feb. 25.  First pitch @ 4:30 pm followed by the JV game

ELKMONT TAKES THREE WINS

All three Elkmont baseball teams took wins in their season opening games.

The Varsity beat East Lawrence 9 - 4 in the first round of the Athens Bible School Invitational.

The JV team took the field following the varsity and won by 10 runs against East Lawrence, 17 - 7.

The Middle School beat the hosting Westminster in the Westminister Preseason Tournament.  The Red Devils scored 10 runs in the 10-2 win. 

The middle school will travel back to Westminister tomorrow to play Randolph @ 6:30 pm.

The varsity Red Devils will be hosting Falkville on Thursday in the next round of the ABS preseason tournament.

PRESEASON WORKDAY

There will be a workday this Saturday, February 9, to get the baseball field and concession stand ready for the season.  Please come around 10 a.m. and dress warmly.  It is supposed to be sunny.


The field needs lots of work to get it ready for our first home game, Feb. 18. 

Things to do:

• put up windscreen
• clean dugouts and concession stand
• cut grass
• weed eat
• rake
• get infield ready

Things to bring:

• lawnmowers with grass catchers
• weed eaters
• paint brushes
• rakes
• lawn equipment
