Clements and Elkmont came into the three-game series tied for second place in Class 3A, Area 15, meaning the winner of the series would take the area's second playoff spot. Clements jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held on for the victory Tuesday evening.

The Colts scored two runs in the top of the first inning, then scored one in the third, three in the fourth and added another in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead. Elkmont responded with three in the bottom of the fifth and another in the seventh, but couldn't dig out of the large hole. Hunter Pitman had two RBIs for Elkmont.

With Clements' win on Tuesday, they led the
three-game series with Elkmont  as each team sought second place in Class 3A, Area 15 for a playoff spot.  Clements got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second inning due to a throwing error, but Elkmont pitcher Brett Parker was able to minimize the damage and keep the Red Devils in the game.

Whenever, the Red Devils looked to make a run at the Colts, Clements would shut the gate. The key moment in the game was the top of the fourth inning, when a double by Ryan Boyd put runners at second and third with one out.

It looked promising but the next two batters struck out to end the threat and keep Clements in the lead. Elkmont threatened to make the game interesting in the seventh, loading the bases with two outs. Alas, the game ended on a flyout.

VARSITY
The game between Elkmont and Ardmore, county rivals, was scoreless through two and a half innings, but the Lady Tigers broke through with seven runs in the bottom of the third.

“Elkmont helped us out with a few errors they usually don't make and we took advantage of it,” Ardmore's Coach Baugh said.

Ardmore's pitcher was dominant in the circle for the Lady Tigers, allowing just one hit while striking out six Elkmont batters without walking any. Of the 62 pitches she threw, 50 of them were for strikes. Hannah Usery was tough-luck losing pitcher for Elkmont. Of the 10 runs Ardmore scored, only two of them were earned. Autumn Davis had Elkmont's only hit, a single in the top of the fifth inning.
