ELKMONT JV GIRLS ON THE WINNING TRACK

The Elkmont JV Lady Devils softball team hosted a game vs the Ardmore Lady Tigers.  In a cool but clear day, Elkmont won the first game, 3 - 1.  They then added another win at the Clements Lady Colts' expense, 6 - 1. Hoping to get a post by a JV softball reporter later this week.  In the meanwhile, some great pictures of both teams from Down Home Portraits

The JV team plays next at East Limestone on March 4.

Game Notes:
Elkmont Middle School held off Westminster , as Westminster was unable to overcome a four-run fifth inning deficit. Hunter got the win for Elkmont Middle School. He allowed two runs over two innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered one hit. Phillip Norman relieved Hunter and picked up the save.

Elkmont's leading batters were Hunter Pitman and Login Griffin with two doubles each. Matt Sims had two singles, Clay Hunt and Jim Dawson contributed with a single each.

The Red Devils will play at East Limestone, March 4 @ 4:30 pm

This is what the average Elkmont fan looks like during February Baseball Games.  Did I mention that baseball shouldn't be played in February unless you  live 200 miles to the south?

The top of the first inning saw Elkmont Middle School take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Phillip Norman scored Logan Griffin to start the inning off.

Randolph never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring four runs on an error and two singles.

Two runs in the top of the fifth helped Elkmont Middle School close its deficit to 20-3. A RBI single by Phillip and a wild pitch gave Elkmont Middle School life. However, it wasn't enough as Randolph pounded the Elkmont Middle School pitching, as six hitters combined for 11 hits, 10 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

ELKMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAY AT WESTMINISTER

Elkmont Middle School baseball opened up their season today with an appearance in a Westminister Christian Academy tournament.   The Red Devils lost 3-2 against Decatur Heritage.  Phillip Norman and Hunter Pitman saw action on the mound, and Braden Miller and Hunter Pitman each collected a single and an RBI (run batted in) in the 5 inning game.

Our boys represented us well; lots of talent on this team for sure!  Can not wait to see more from our awesome coaches and boys this Thursday when they play their next two games vs Ardmore at Elkmont on Thursday at 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm.  Go Big Red!!

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME.....

The Elkmont School baseball and softball seasons start this week.  Many of us have been looking forward to the beginning of another season of diamonds, hot dogs and bats.
There are 3 teams for each sport... middle school, junior varsity and varsity. Schedules can be found under the page tabs at the the top of the Diamonds blog.

The Hill Spirit has a reporter for the varsity softball and baseball teams and one of the youth teams.  The blog still needs reporters for the JV, Middle School and the other youth teams.  All it takes is a score, what teams played and hopefully, a picture.  If you don't read about your team on the blog, it is because no one submitted a post.  Game or information posts can be submitted by email: elkmont1@charter.net or by facebook message to the Hill Spirit.

For Your Info:

There will be a parent meeting for Elkmont Varsity, JV and Middle School Baseball on Wednesday, February 19 at 5 in the New Gym.

SUCH A GOOD IDEA!!!

The Hill Spirit is a firm believer in community and helping those within our community.  We are quick to send our money and stuff somewhere else to help but it is best when it starts at home.  These are our friends, friends we don't know yet or family.  The Elkmont Youth League has come up with a great idea to recycle unused equipment that is no longer needed or exchanged for needed equipment.    So look in the closet or in the garage and see if you have baseball/softball stuff that needs a new home.
