Decatur Daily Class 1A-3A All-Area Softball Team
Player of the year: Hillary Carpenter, Hatton, Sr.: The UNA signee concluded her illustrious career by helping Hatton with a fourth straight Class 2A state title. As a pitcher, the left-hander finished with a 33-6 record with an 1.75 ERA, four no-hitters and 13 shutouts. She averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. She also hit .466.Coach of the year: Heather Sparkman, Decatur Heritage: Led Decatur Heritage to its first state tournament appearance. The Eagles finished fourth at the Class 1A state tournament.
P: Peyton Barthel, Decatur Heritage, Jr.: The talented junior led Decatur Heritage with a .518 with a .608 on-base percentage. She also hit 15 homers with 58 RBIs.
P: Megan Davidson, Athens Bible, Soph.: Led Athens Bible to an appearance in the Class 1A state tournament by finishing with a 22-14 record with more than 280 strikeouts. She also hit four homers and led Athens Bible in batting average.
P: Hannah Draper, West Morgan, Jr.: The junior went 22-15 while helping West Morgan reach the Class 3A North Regional. She averaged more than five strikeouts per game with a 1.11 ERA.
C: Carey Grace Peebles, Hatton, Sr.: Led Hatton with .508 batting average while hitting eight home runs with 50 RBIs.
INF: Jami Hunter, Hatton, Jr.: Slotted in the 9-hole of Hatton’s lineup, Hunter posted a .460 batting average with five homers and 28 RBIs.
INF: Anna Stinnett, Athens Bible, Jr: Was among Athens Bible’s leading hitters with an average around .350.
INF: Hannah Harper, Hatton, Sr.: The Wallace State-Hanceville signee hit .422 with 11 doubles and 24 RBIs.
INF: Danya Snead, Hatton, Sr.: The Snead State signee hit .451 with nine homers and 48 RBIs.
OF: Victoria Crumpton, Hatton, Sr.: The speedy UAH signee hit .428 with 28 RBIs. She also stole 65 bases.
OF: Mariah Cantrell, Hatton, Sr.: The Calhoun signee hit .354 with 25 RBIs, nine doubles and three triples.
OF: Hannah Olinger, Decatur Heritage, Sr.: Hit .382 with three homers and 38 RBIs. She also stole 20 bases.
DH: Sydney Sanders, West Morgan, Fr.: Led West Morgan with a .436 batting average with 45 RBIs and seven homers.
UT: Boston Claborn, Hatton, Sr.: The Snead State signee was among Hatton’s leaders in hits with 63 with one home run. She also finished 6-2 as a pitcher.
