MIDDLE SCHOOL SILVER CHAMPIONS
Our middle school Lady Devils recently played in the Ardmore Middle School Tiger Classic. Thirteen teams from Tennessee, north Alabama and Kentucky participated. The local teams were Elkmont, Ardmore and East Limestone. The tournament consisted of pool play and then the teams were seeded into two brackets, Gold and Silver.
TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS:
In pool play Elkmont MS tied 5-5 with Moore County from Tennessee and lost 5-0 against the gold bracket champion, Meridianville.
In tournament play, the Lady Devils won against Moore Co. 5-2 and moved to the championship game of the Silver Bracket Championship to play East Limestone.
In the Championship game. Elkmont jumped out with a 2-0 lead against East and then fell behind 7-2. With good strong hitting and solid defense, they edged past the Lady Indians, 11-10.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SPLITS WITH TANNER
April 13:
The Elkmont Middle School Red Devils jumped out to an early lead and captured a 13-6 victory over the Tanner Rattlers, at the Hilltop. The game was decided quickly as the Red Devils exerted its will early with 11 runs in the first three innings.
An RBI single by Phillip Norman, a two-run single by Matt Sims, a walk by Jordan Fielding, a two-run single by Jim Dawson, and a two-run double by Phillip during the first inning fueled the Elkmont offense, scoring nine runs.
The rest of the game saw each attempted Tanner rally matched by an answering Elkmont team.
The Red Devils survived a Tanner surge and put up two runs of its own in the fourth inning, scoring on an RBI triple by Login Griffin and an RBI single by Hunter Pitman.
Game Stats:
*Phillip Norman allowed six runs over five innings, and was credited with the victory. He struck out 10 batters, walked five and gave up five hits.
*Jim Dawson, Phillip Norman and Login Griffin combined for five hits and six RBIs.
O Green couldn't get it done on the mound for Tanner, taking the loss. He allowed 13 runs in four innings, walked 11 and struck out seven.
TANNER WINS 5 - 3 IN LAST GAME
Hunter Pitman did all he could to give Elkmont Middle School a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Tanner, as Elkmont Middle School lost 5-3 in five innings at home on Saturday.
The Tanner Rattlers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third. Green got things going with a single. A stolen base then moved from first to second. J. Revaz singled, plating Green.
After a quick strike from the Rattlers, Elkmont responded with one run in the third; scored on an RBI single by Hunter.
The lead stayed with Tanner after the fourth, when it scored two runs on an error and an RBI single by G. Mann.
In the fourth, Elkmont Middle School scored on an RBI single by Hunter, scoring Jordan Fielding.
After posting one run in the fourth, the Red Devils scored another in the fifth.

MIDDLE SCHOOL TAKES TWO FROM WESTMINISTER
Elkmont Middle School hosted the Westminister Wildcats in a double header Friday night. The Red Devils jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A single by Phillip Norman scored Logan Griffin in Elkmont's first run of the game. They tacked on another run when Norman scored on an RBI double by Braden Miller.
The Westminster Wildcats answered with one run of its own in the second inning. Elkmont matched Westminster with a run of their own as the Red Devils scored on an error.
The Wildcats rallied in the third inning, scoring two runs to tie the game. Elkmont held them scoreless in the fourth. The Red Devils took the lead in the bottom of the inning, when it scored the winning run.
Game Stats:
Phillip Norman looked sharp on the rubber. Westminster managed just two hits off of Norman, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out seven during his five innings of work. Carter Hayes of Westminster was credited with the loss. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs. Elkmont Middle School fend off Westminster 's late push
The top of the
first inning saw the Westminster Wildcats take an early lead, 2-0. A single by Josh Randall started
the inning off. The scoreboard lit up again for Westminster when a wild pitch scored another run. After the quick strike
from the Wildcats, Elkmont responded with two runs of its own in the bottom of the first.
The game was tied at two runs a piece in the top of the second inning. Elkmont held Westminister to a scoreless second inning. The Red Devils never looked back after scoring three runs in the second on an error and two singles.
The Wildcats tried to rally back as they scored two runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Ben Simerly and a groundout by Caden Best. However
Westminster couldn't overcome the big hole it had dug for itself. They lost 5-4 to the Red Devils
after falling behind by three runs in the second inning.
Game Stats:
Hunter Pitman had a hot bat for Elkmont Middle School. Hunter went 2-2, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first and second innings.
Hunter recorded the win for Elkmont Middle School. He allowed four runs over five innings. Hunter struck out six, walked three and gave up seven hits.
Josh Randall was charged with the loss. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DROP TWO TO TIGERS
Elkmont Middle School spent the first day of their Spring break playing the Ardmore Tigers in a double header. Elkmont had an early edge in the first game on Monday, but the Tigers roared back to steal a 6-4 victory at Ardmore.
The top of the first saw Elkmont take an early lead, 3-0. The Red Devils' offense woke up as Logan Griffin singled, followed by a Phillip single which scored Logan. They then tacked on more runs when Pitman scored on a wild pitch and Norman scored on a wild pitch.
It didn't take long for Ardmore to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the second. They scored on a two-run double by Eckstein. The Tigers went up for good in the fourth inning, scoring three runs on a two-run error.

Chase Lay's no-hitter enough for Ardmore to beat Elkmont Middle School, 8-0
Elkmont Middle School fell 8-0 to Ardmore as Chase Lay threw a no-hitter on Monday at Ardmore. No Elkmont Middle School batter was able to locate Chase's pitches during the game. Chase threw a no-hitter, striking out six batters and walking three. He got Login Griffin to ground out for the final out of the game.
Ardmore increased its lead with six runs in the second. A bases loaded walk scored Lewis for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Luke's single, bringing home Heston Hughes.

MIDDLE SCHOOL RUNNER-UP IN SPRING FLING TOURNAMENT
The Elkmont Middle School softball team are at the mid point in their season. Before taking time off this week for Spring Break, they played in the Elkmont Spring Fling Tournament, March 21 - 22. Five teams were invited to play, Tanner, East Limestone, West Limestone, Sheffield and of course, the Elkmont Lady Devils. The tournament was single elimination after a pool play round on Friday.
POOL PLAY ROUND:
Our first game was Friday night and we played Tanner. and Stephanie Bates pitched and was credited with a 6-3 win. The starting players were:

Elkmont played Saturday morning in the the first game of the tournament. We played Sheffield. Montana Crowe pitched, winning 9-1. This send the Lady Devils to championship game to meet the West Limestone Lady Wildcats.
