WEST TAKE TWO FROM ELKMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL

The middle school Elkmont Red Devils traveled to West Limestone for a double header, March 10.  

Game One:
Alex Casteel got the win for West. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out six, walked four and surrendered one hit.

Phillip Norman was charged with the loss. He lasted four innings, walked none, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.
Game Recap:
West went up for good in the first, scoring three runs on an RBI double by Alex Casteel, an error by the Elkmont defense, and an RBI single by Alex Baugher.

After pushing across one run in the top of the third, the Red Devils faced just a 3-1 deficit. A RBI double by Braden Miller fueled Elkmont Middle School's comeback. But, Alex Casteel struck out Clay Hunt to end the inning.

West survived an Elkmont surge and put up one run of its own in the third. West scored on a passed ball.

One run in the top of the fifth helped the Red Devils close its deficit to 4-2. A steal of home by Logan Griffin gave the boys in red new life. Elkmont's Matt Sims to end the ballgame.

Game Two:

Logan Griffin did his best to will Elkmont Middle School to a win with a two-hit game, but the Red Devils dropped a 14-2 contest to West on Monday at West.

The top of the first saw Elkmont take an early lead, 1-0. The Red Devils' offense woke up as Logan singled, followed by a Hunter Pitman single, scoring Logan.

West never trailed after scoring four runs in the first on two errors and an RBI single by D Baugher.

One run in the top of the second helped the Red Devils close its deficit to 4-2. An error helped the effort but West's Jordan Fielding struck out to end the Elkmont threat and their chance to get back in the game.
