JV TEAM ON A ROLL - DIAMOND DEVIL SPEAKS

The morning was cold and damp, but the weather did nothing to deter the JV Red Devils this morning in a double header against the East Lawrence Eagles.  Starting the first game, Adam McMahan took the mound for the Devils. Although he only gave up two hits, East Lawrence would score four runs on an error-filled inning.  After getting three outs, the Devils came to bat but failed to score.

Top of the second inning, the Eagles scored three runs on no hits and three walks. Bottom of two, Elkmont scored only one run on an RBI (run batted in) by Jordan Brooks.

With the score, 7-1 in the Eagles’ favor and going to top of three, things began to change for Elkmont.  McMahan seemed to settle in, regained his focus and shut the Eagles down with no runs, hits, or walks.  Bottom of third inning, the Devils got the bats going.  Camron Taylor led off and got to first base.  Cody Haggermaker and Jarod Smallwood followed with a single each.  Bases loaded, Joshua Carter hit a 2 RBI double, closing the score to 7-3, Eagles. Next, Nolan Ryan hit a RBI single; score 7-4, Eagles.  Carter stole home on a wild pitch; score 7-5, Eagles.  McMahan would get on base and Hunter Brazeal would hit a 2 RBI single; score 7-7, tied.

Fourth inning, McMahan once again shut down the Eagles, and the Devils continued to hit and scored three more runs.

Top of fifth inning, the Eagles scored one final run, but McMahan did his job as the Devils would get the win with a final score Elkmont 10, East Lawrence 8.  Adam McMahan captured the win, pitching a complete game.
