The Middle Devils were back at home today with a scheduled double header against the Eagles from East Lawrence and we were able to add a win to our total in the first game but the second game was a washout.Jordan Nelson was back on the mound for the home team Devils and pitched three good innings, racking up 4 Ks (strikeouts) leading to a 12-7 win. We had a lot of batters on base due to walks in the 1st inning and got the scoring started with Nelson advancing Josh Johnson and Eli Hobbs. Johnson subsequently scored on a passed ball. Aron Moss scored Hobbs; Travis Riggs walked to score Nelson; Brady Garris to score EthanWilson; Taylor Thomas scored Moss and Johnson scored Riggs to put us up 6 - 2 after the 1st inning.
The Red Devil defense held in the second while the Elkmont bats added two more runs with Moss scoring Nelson; Bryce Tyler scoring Wilson and Hobbs scoring Johnson to make it 8 - 2 before East Lawrence got the third out.
The defense again held in the third inning and the offense added three more runs with Wilson driving in Hobbs; Moss driving in Nelson, and Riggs bringing home Wilson to make it 11-2 after the third inning.
Taylor Thomas took the mound in the fourth and struck
out three but the Eagles did pick up a run to add three runs to the scoreboard. Austin Berry advanced Peyton McCown
and Hobbs and Connor Norman scored McCown in the bottom of the fourth to make it 12 - 3.
Tyler Watts was the closing pitcher and came on to finish out the game, striking out one and we came away with a
12 - 7 victory. Garris played another fine game behind the plate and came up with a couple of big outs back there as well.
Eli Hobbs opened on the mound in second game of the double header and allowed no runs in the top half of the first. A hard rain moved in and the game was called in the bottom half.
