ELKMONT TAKES FIRST GAME IN AREA SERIES

The trip to the 2012 baseball state playoffs began March 19 for the Elkmont Red Devils.  The top two teams from each of the sixteen 3A areas in the state will go to the first round of state playoffs.  The four teams in Area 15 are the Elkmont Red Devils, Clements Colts, West Morgan Rebels and Danville Hawks. Elkmont began area play with a home and home series with the Clements Colts.  


The Red Devils took the first game of  the series with a home win over the Colts.   Elkmont combined a one error defensive effort with Ben Ferguson's complete game to race pass Clements 11 - 6.  The Devils went up 11 - 4 in three innings and were able to cruise to the win even though the Colts pitching staff held the  Elkmont scoreless the last three innings.
