JV RED DEVILS BREAK COLTS

The JV team proved to be to much at home last night against the Clements Colts, winning 8-2

Camron Taylor took the mound to start the game allowing only one walk as the Colts came up empty.  The Red Devils came in to bat. Taylor started off with a single and would eventually steal home.  Hunter Brazeal, batting third, had a single and would also steal home.  Eli Vining had a single, followed by Jared Smallwood with a walk.  Joshua Carter had a single with 2 RBI (run batted in) and would steal 2nd on an error by the second baseman. Jordan Nelson and Eli Hobbs, both “borrowed” from the Middle School team, would each have a single with Carter scoring on an RBI by Hobbs.  At the end of the first inning with 2 runner left on base, Elkmont led 5 - 0.

Top of two, Taylor allowed two hits, three walks and two runs by Clements, bringing the score to 5-2 in Elkmont’s favor.  With two outs, coaches would pull Taylor and put in Eli Vining as pitcher who would finish the inning with no hits, walks, or runs.  Bottom of the second inning, Brazeal would walk followed with singles from Vining, Smallwood (RBI) and Carter (RBI) making the score 7-2 still in Elkmont’s favor. Three were LOB(runners left on base).

Vining would continue on the mound in the 3rd and 4th innings allowing one walk.  Elkmont failed to score in the third, leaving one on base but scored one in the fourth with a triple by Smallwood followed by an RBI by Carter.  They left three on base.

In the top of the fifth, Vining only allowed 1 walk and would cinch the win for the Red Devils. The final score was Elkmont 8, Colts 2.
The winning pitcher was Camron Taylor.

The JV team will play @ Tanner this Friday following the Varsity game, and will host East Lawrence @ home in a double header this Saturday beginning at 9:00 am.
