JV WINS ONE AND LOSES ONE

 
Elkmont JV was at home on Saturday with a double header against the West Limestone Wildcats.

Winning 5-4, in their last meeting against the Cats, the Red Devils knew they would have to get bats going and play good defense. 

In game # 1, Elkmont took the lead in the bottom of the second inning,  8 – 0.  In the top of the third, West scored four runs but that would be all as pitcher, Adam McMahan would allow no hits, walks, or runs for the remainder of the game.

Elkmont would take the win with the final score 8 – 4.  McMahan pitched the entire game and allowed a total of 5 hits, 1 walk, and 4 runs.

STATS:

Nolan Ryan: 1 single, 1 walk
Adam McMahan: 2 singles
Michael Johnson: 1 double
Camron Taylor: 1 walk
Jordan Brooks: 1 double
Hunter Taylor: 1 single, 1 double
Eli Vining: 1 walk
Cody Haggermaker: 1 double

Game # 2 would prove to be an exciting match up as both teams wanted a win.  With Jordan Brooks starting on the mound, West Limestone Wildcats scored no runs in the first inning.  Elkmont  Red Devils came to bat and scored 2 runs on 2 walks and a single.

In the second inning, Brooks had an arm injury and coaches would put Camron Taylor on the mound. West scored 9 runs in the second.
Elkmont came back to bat and scored 2 more runs.

The score was in West’s favor 9 – 4 going to the third.
Taylor did his job allowing no hits, walks, or runs in the third.
Red Devils failed to score.

In the top of 4, Taylor once again allowed no hits, walks, or runs.
Elkmont scored 3 bring the score 9 – 7, Wildcats

In the top of five with two outs, West scored another run making the score 10-7.  Coaches would bring Hunter Brazeal to the mound to finish out the inning.

In the bottom of the fifth with one out and runners on, Joshua Carter hit a 2 run double, bringing the score to 10-9 and Elkmont to within one of a tie and a possible win.  On a couple of wild pitches, Carter would steal third then home to tie the game @ 10 all.  The next two batters would get outs and send the game to extra innings.

Brazeal would continue to pitch allowing 1 hit, 2 walks, and no runs in the sixth, but Elkmont would again fail to score.

Going to seven, coaches sent Michael Lee Johnson to the mound where he only allowed 1 hit, and 1 walk.  The Wildcats came up empty.  The Red Devils failed to score.

Going to eight, Johnson allowed 2 hits and West scored a run on a bobbled ball and bad throw by the short stop to first base.  Elkmont would come to bat but fell short and West would take the win 11-10.

Jordan Brooks allowed 2 hits, 3 walks, 1 hit player, and 1 run.
Camron Taylor allowed 6 hits, 1 walk, and 9 runs.
Hunter Brazeal allowed 1 hit, 2 walks
Michael Johnson allowed 3 hits, 1 walk, and 1 run.
Nolan Ryan: 2 walks, 1 single
Adam McMahan: 1 walk, 2 singles
Michael Johnson: 1 single, 1 RBI
Hunter Brazeal:  2 singles
Camron Taylor: 1 walk
Eli Vining: 1 single
Cody Haggermaker: 1 single, 2 walks
Joshua Carter: 1 single, 1 double, 3 RBI

The JV record is now 5-6.

 Elkmont JV will meet Clements @ home today following the Varsity game.
